I love where I was born and still live. We have the best of both worlds. We can drive one hour west and be in "the city" as locals refer to it - Manhattan. If we drive one hour east, we are in farmland and wine country. Any direction we go in, we hit beautiful beaches.
Hampton Classic - my daughter and I enjoyed watching the competition in 2019. 2020 was a dud of course. My husband and I honeymooned out East (as locals refer to the area) back in 2011 as we wanted to stay close to home due to my godson and nephew being ill.
Admittedly, the South Shore of Long Island is more well know. That's where "The Hamptons" is, known around the world as the playground of the rich and famous. However, it's in our backyard and it's also the playground of local Long Islanders and New Yorkers and home to "ordinary" people, including the middle class.

However, all of Long Island has a lot to offer and the North Shore (North Fork) is where you will find the wineries and farms. (See Long Island North Fork Farms, Food and Fun)
We had an amazing time the other day at one of the most well-known wineries on Long island. Very often people visit several wineries in one day. Many take limousines or tour buses and make a day out of it. We've done both in the past. It's a hotspot for bachelorette parties, senior citizen trips and groups of families and friends.
Many of the wineries offer entertainment. We've listened to live music and watched comedy shows. Many substitute as wedding venues.

I've been featured!!! Bloggers pitstop. Check it out! Gluten Free Chickpea Chili.
In the fall, the farms and wineries will go big for Halloween and boy is it fun with haunted houses, decorations and seasonal wines and produce.

Visit a Family Friendly Winery" "Some Long Island Wine Country wineries welcome children with picnic areas, farm animals, live music, food trucks, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. In Calverton, there are picnic areas and pony rides at Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard. There’s wood-fired pizza at Jamesport Vineyards. There are dozens of petting animals at Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead (and it’s a food truck stop!). McCall Wines features an authentic barn and serves burgers, plus picnic space and outdoor games, such as volleyball, bocce and corn hole add fun to a visit to Osprey’s Dominion in Peconic."
